art journaling

Keeping a journal was never one of my strengths. I started about seven diaries, but I always lost my interest after a few weeks. Maybe this project is thus doomed to fail as well, but it has kept my interest for several months now… a new record!

I started art journaling after I had seen some videos on Youtube.  As I love to be creative and use a lot of different materials, this just seemed so perfect for me.  This is a way to keep a journal without having to write something meaningful... a big plus from my perspective, as I think my life isn’t that meaningful at all :)
And it’s a way to ensure you take some time for yourself… some kind of meditation.

I used everything that came into my way: photos, snippets from magazines, stamps, stickers, old maps, all kind of colours (Acrylic paint, ink, watercolours, pastels) etc.
See some of my pages for yourself:

I hope I can keep up my art journaling... doing it once a month would be great!

tiny marvels

There are two things I absolutely can’t stop thinking about recently:
1.      Cupcakes
2.      Cake Pops
If you take a look at the pictures below, you will probably know why. There are uncountable possibilities as how to decorate them and what flavours you want to combine – just amazing. Although I don’t particularly like the icing/topping, I still think they look awesome. And the cakes themselves taste fantastic… just small enough to not feel guilty about if you take another one.

In Zurich, there is even a service where you can order cupcakes in three different sizes. You just have to order as least 20 cupcakes. Just check au Michelle’s cupcakes. Or you can simply put together your very own creation at Jolie-et-calorie.

In case you’re not too lazy… just do them yourself! Baking is a lot of fun to me and I wish I were doing it more often. But I don’t want to have to eat them all by myself…

The second I fell deeply in love with when I first saw them were Cake Pops. Tiny cakes (sometimes even cupcakes) propped on sticks and ready so eat. Don’t they look marvellous?

and sooooo delicious?

I bought myself the recipe book from Bakerella and I will certainly try to do them soon. You will probably see the results here. I only hope that I can get hold of all the needed ingredients here in Switzerland… otherwise I will have to improvise.

You can even form and decorate them in every way you want to. The Hello Kitty ones are just too cute to eat!

In case you need any inspiration concerning baking, you should really check out Baked Perfection. These sandwich cookies are one her creations… fantastic!

the vampire diaries

It’s about time to tell you about my favourite tv series: the Vampire Diaries!

The series is set in the fictional town of Mystic Falls, Virginia, a town charged with supernatural history since its settlement of migrants from New England in the late 17th century. The series follows the life of Elena Gilbert, a 17-year-old girl, who falls for a 162-year-old vampire named Stefan Salvatore.

The story line revolves around the other inhabitants of the town, most notably Elena's younger brother Jeremy Gilbert, Elena's best friend Bonnie Bennett (a witch), Elena's close friend Caroline Forbes, Elena's childhood friend Tyler Lockwood and Elena's ex-boyfriend Matt Donovan.

The relationship between Elena and Stefan becomes increasingly complicated as Stefan's vicious and malevolent elder brother Damon returns to Mystic Falls with a plan to wreak havoc on the town and also to plan a vendetta against his younger brother.

Both brothers begin to show affection towards Elena, mainly because of her resemblance to their past love Katherine. It is revealed that Elena, a distant relative of Katherine, is Katherine's doppelganger, who eventually returns with plans against the trio.

The series is based on a novel by Lisa J. Smith, although they didn’t quite stick to the details. But that’s not necessary! The series possesses exactly the right mix of mysticism, romance and uncanniness. And the cast is just perfect.
