Yes, I can(s)!

I thought I'd share a super easy DIY with you before I am off to America! And with super easy I really mean super easy... like all my DIY actually :)
I guess that  says something about me. I don't like complicated things, that's all!

So here is what you need: old cans (different sizes depending on your project) and the colour of your wish (I'd suggest acrylic paint). That's it! And guess what, you could even use cans that are no longer perfectly shaped... they can be dented and crushed and still make formidable pots.

The project in the top line in the middle is my favourite... but you might have guessed that already ;)

Deer DIY

This weekend has been super duper stressful... there were tons of things I had to do and just too little time.

The annual tax declaration was waiting for me, I had to write a 1000-word paper for one of my courses at the university and study for the midterm exam of another one. Additionally, I finally took the brown belt karate exam which meant almost 3 hours of hard core sweating and fighting - but it was definitively worth it. And packing for my one week trip to Germany was also part of the deal.

This was definitively not a weekend that allowed me to spend my time creatively for a little diy project. But I am really looking forward to the week after Easter... the Easter holiday week. As soon as I will have some hours of free time, I will do this deer silhouette canvas.

What I love about this project? you need almost nothing to do it: a canvas, one colour of your choice, and a picture of a deer which you have to transfer to the canvas. Super easy, right?!

I wish everyone a great start into the next week!

gold dipped diy

Ahhh, a beautiful week behind me... some days in between that just flew past... and now another beautiful weekend ahead. I like! Me and my boyfriend are going to spend the weekend in a top class wellness hotel in Germany with a candlelight dinner, a day full of massages, spa and other beauty treatments, a nice lie in and many cozy hours....

As soon as I'm back, though, I have lots of plans for baking, cooking, painting and some diy-stuff! These gold dipped glasses, vases, plates and more seem like the perfect diy-project, don't you think? minimal effort and material, maximal effect :)

I hope I'll get the time to do it once I'm back... you'll hear about it! until then, enjoy your weekends!

lots of love linskaya

a tiny little christmas tree

Guess what?! It's snowing outside! Oh, how these tiny fluffy white flakes make me happy... I know my hopes for a white christmas might be in vain this year, but I might as well enjoy the snowflakes as long as I can.

And guess what else?! Yeah, it's already the fourth Sunday of Advent! Less than a week to go till Christmas... I'm really looking forward to it. To great a food, family time, lots of love and lots of presents :)

So in celebration of these two things, I thought I would show you our little Christmas tree. He is itsy-bitsy-teenie-weenie (meaning very small, haha), but my boyfriend and I don't need a bigger one. I decorated it with different red Christmas bulbs and bow ribbons and a funny looking Santa Claus (hihi).
Looks cute, right?

Light your fourth candle on your Advent wreath and enjoy a lazy (not for me) sunday!

lots of love, xoxoxo linskaya

hello december!

Just quickly a few pictures of the Advent calender I made for my boyfriend this year. 24 cute dotted and striped grey'n'white paper bags filled with lots of love and sweet traits (and yeah, some more things) and stuffed into a basket!

I love filling it and he already loves opening it...

pinecone deco

Another great and sunny autumn weekend went past. And winter is approaching quickly! That's why I thought it's time to show you my autumn decoration. Really simple: fill chestnuts into a glass vase and fill up with pinecones. That alone would suffice for a great deco piece but I painted two of the pinecones gold to add a little liveliness. Hope you like it!

PS: sorry for the really short post...

self-made jewellery

Around this time of the year, I normally get out my knitting stuff. yeah, you heard right: knitting! If you don't know it yet: knitting is no longer considered old-fashioned, boring or granny-style. Knitting has a new urban and stylish image if nothing else because of the graffiti knitting movement (see here for some great examples).

But this post is not about knitting (I just wanted to make sure that you still think I'm cool *chrchr*). This year, I don't feel like knitting though - so I was looking for a new challenge. As I spend quite some time on Pinterest, I was inspired by the idea to make some easy diy-bracelets. After the first one (who turned out to look a bit clumsy), I really got addicted and made more and more of them in all sorts of colours, with different leather ribbons and special beads. Of course, I improved after the first few!

I could now tell you how to make them yourselves, but I won't. If you need a last-minute present or just like them enough to give one to yourself for no apparent reason (who needs a reason to make him-/herself a present anyway?!), I would be happy to give them away for a tiny contribution towards expenses. I'm even inclined to take orders and wishes as to what colour-combination you would like to have your bracelet in. I can even imagine making ones in different lenghts... so, be creative!

Just in case you should have severe sleeping problems because you don't know how to make them, you could still contact me and I'll gladly tell you. ;)

a wall for everything

I recently tried my hand at a bit of diy homeworking on an old wooden sunblend. You should know, before I begin, that I knew absolutely nothing about the subject. And truth be told, I still don't. Luckily, my boyfriend does!

We spent a whole (still warm and sunny) saturday in our garden working on these two old sun blends. The idea - I don't like to admit it, but it was his idea - was genious. We wanted to decorate two old wooden sunblends with a blackboard, a metal (magnetic) sheet and lots of clips. In short, we wanted to create the perfect wall for everything: for keeping businesscards, postcards from friends, photographs of funny occasions, menucards to order from take aways and for being able to keep a "To-Do" or shopping list.

I have to admit that I enjoyed myself A LOT! haha... drilling, painting, screwing, polishing, milling... just my kind of stuff! I should definitively do that more often. It's a very liberating feeling when you're dirty and tired but utterly happy... besides the fact that you made something no one else will ever have in just the same way.

So, my female friends, pick up the drill and hammer and get to work!

autumnal decoration (or inspiration part II)

yeah, it's autumn and I keep going on about it - I hope you're not bored yet!? But the pumpkins, colourful leaves, nuts, acorns and twigs offer an infinte source of great ideas for autumnal decoration. And as I will have some time on my own this weekend, I will probably collect some things on a lovely walk through the forest and work them into a nice decor...

These are some inspirational pictures from Pinterest. Most of the ideas are pretty easily realizable. And they look really autumnally!

Ah, I can't wait to get outside again into the cold, fresh and windy air... red cheecks ahoi!

against all uniformity

I love to do things on my own - with my own hands. It gives me the feeling of being of use. And it is really satisfying. It normally doesn't matter what it is I'm doing - it might be trying out a great new dessert, creating a wonderful brithday wish card, starting with a new painting or any other dyi stuff. The main thing is that I can get my hands dirty. I really love to have colour, glitter and glue all over me ;)

Me and my boyfriend - mostly him though - have been feeling of use lately. Meaning that we have been doing some things for our appartment. These things make our home unique and special.

And in every piece is a tiny piece of us.
I like that thought a lot.
It makes us some kind of allies... we against the world.
We and our pretty little home against all conformity and uniformity.

obsessed with pinterest

I'll be honest with you... actually, I always am. Quite scarry, now that I think of it ;) the thing I'm gonna be honest about today is an obsession, an addiction. Yes, I'm addicted - addicted to Pinterest.

I haven't spent a day lately (meaning the last 3 days) without being on Pinterest. This website/social network/internet service is just amazing. It's actually just a huge virtual pinboard, where you can collect things you love/like and follow friends that like the same things.

Pinterest is full of inspirations! Every day, I find like hundreds of things I like, ideas for a future home, diy and crafty stuff, travel inspirations, fashion pictures, great recipes and deco ideas... I could already do like fifty posts with thingsI found on Pinterest and which I would love to have/do!

But I'd better stopp swarming and drooling. Should you ever need an idea for anything: go there! And try not to spend to much time there... because I'm sure you'll get addicted just as quickly as I was. Very dangerous!

So back to my inspiration hunt - repin, repin repin!!!
xoxo linskaya

P.S. Luckly, I'll be in Germany for the next four days and won't have a chance to go to the internet. Maybe that will help to break my pinterest-obsession.

P.P.S. Should you want to follow my obsession, you can do that here.

wedding card

I've been having the urge to do something creative for a while now. I wanted to "do it yourself" really really really badly... and along came an opportunity.

My boyfriend's parents have been a couple for over 30 years now but they were never married. And all of a sudden, they decided to do the "I Do"s. Of course that meant getting a suit for my love (gosh, men look so damn hot in suits), a dress for me (luckily I had one in my closet) and a wedding present with a congratulations card.

As his parents have never been to Switzerland - not alone Zürich - we decided to invite them to Zürich for their honeymoon: 2 nights in a cute Bed&Breakfast hotel in Zürich, a cruise on the lake of Zürich and a nice family dinner in one of Zürich's most famous restaurants. That's the present! And that was the easy part! We also had to have a wedding card and this is where my diy plans fit in. That was the fun part!

See the results for yourselves! How do you like it?
I really like it. And I'm looking forward to seeing the faces when they get the card/present... By the way, this wedding is the reason why I'll be out of town again from tomorrow afternoon till sunday afternoon. But you know: I'll be back!!!
