Life is colourful

No, I did not forget you! No, I did not forget my blog! And no, I'm not too busy to write or have any other excuse...

I just felt like I needed time away from my computer, time to share with the one I love, time to spend and waste with other things I love like reading my whole-heartedly loved fantasy books (yes, it's the song of ice and fire series), watching my favourite tv series (I'm totally hooked on Spartacus, Vampire Diaries, Game of Thrones and Gossip Girl), and being outside in the sun!

But now I feel like I wanna come back to you and blogging. And I'm gonna do so with some beautiful, colourful pictures and a lovely quote on how I intend to life my live in the future!

lots of lovely kisses

what moves me (february)

Aaahh, February is already over... and so is my birthday. I had a great BBQ-Party with my friends yesterday and loved it - I was never able to celebrate my birthday with a BBQ, so it was all the more special.

I just wanted to share with you some of the things that moved me in February:

1) experimental nail art... It looked good for more than a week. OPI really is the best nail polish I know!
2) pure organic coco juice - I have seen that drink so often in New York that I thought I have to try it. Well, it looks much better than it actually tastes!
3) my new leather jacket from Tommy Hilfiger - this was the best birthday present ever! my boyfriend, mom and dad made super duper happy with this!

4) poppyseed marzipan yoghurt - I so loved this!!!
5) cute snowdrops I discovered last week. ah, spring time is finally coming.
6) super huge gold/chinese piggy bank - what a cool birthday present form my work colleagues... still have to find the perfect place for it though.

7) sun salutation yoga sigg bottle - #1 birthday present from my brother
8) colour-changing tulips from my boyfriend
9) two sal y limon bracelets - #2 birthday present from my brother

lots of love!

what a gorgeous day

What a gorgeous day! Ahh, how I enjoyed the day! Spring was in the air!

Blue skies with almost no clouds, many hours of sunshine, the birds were chirping and it was warm. Well,  10° C is not exactly summery but if you have experiences temperatures of -27° that's almost 40° C warmer! Just imagine that...

So it was warm enough to leave my winter cloak in my closet and wear my absolutely favourite trenchcoat: this Tommy Hilfiger Plaid Dufflecoat.

I bought that bijoux in september last year when I was in New York and absolutely and completely love it! It's a very bold pattern, I must admit that, but it looks great with jeans... and any other piece of clothing if truth be told.

I really hope that it stays warm so I will be able to wear this coat daily... and drink coffee outside with by BF enjoying the sunset in the city.

be awesome today

Just a tiny bit of advice for an awesome day: just be awesome!

These are just some glimpses of how to achieve that: sexy heels, sequin leggings or freaky sexy tights, stylish bag, smokey dark make-up and black nails.

Nothing simpler than that!

proud like a peacock

Sorry, guys and girls, for keeping you waiting so long. Last week was a rather busy week with my last 600-words essay to finish. But I did it! The deadline was yesterday, so now I am back for good. And I have tons of stuff to share with you...

But first of all, I wanna tell you how really proud I am on myself. Proud like peacock! :)

I never had to write so many papers and essays for one semester at the University like this semester - hello, master studies, I guess! But I managed to keep a timetable and a to do list and fought my way through all this work slowly but constantly... no stress, no panic, no half-hearted works this year. Yeeaah!

Wanna know how I did it? (Just in case you need some motivation to get your work done...)

There is one very simple principle that works for me: reward yourself when the work is done! I used to that at the end of my essays and it was mostly unhealthy food I rewarded myself with. I kept teeling myself: "you need this right now. you worked so hard, you deserve this!" and gained about 1 kilo. But hey, that's soooooo wrong!

This year, I had a new plan. I rewarded myself on a daily basis with a balanced breakfast and a chapter in my book (Oh, how I love the "Song of Ice and Fire" series), a fun and healthy lunch, one episode of my favourite TV series and some yoga/karate/dancing.

This is how it worked: I got up, prepared myself a balanced breakfast like scrambled eggs on whole wheat toast, pumpernickel with cream cheese and fresh tomatoes or some granola with fresh fruit and yoghurt. I allowed myself to have breakfast as long as it took me to read one chapter. Then I got to work...concentrated work for 3 to 4 hours accompanied by some green tea. For lunch, I reserved myself an enitre hour: preparing and cooking a healthy lunch like a huge salad with shrimps, sesame and goat cheese, a spicy thai soup or some couscous, and eating it while watching one episode of a TV series (my favourite right now is "The Vampire Diares 3"). After that, I got back to work for another 3-4 hours and finished my day with 30 minutes of yoga or some karate training...

And guess what: It just worked perfectly! And more: I even lost a kilo that way *hahaha* I am soooo proud... And now, where everything is done and three weeks of holidays are lying ahead of me, I think I'm gonna reward myself some more: with a piece of clothing or some jewellery in peacock style...

If you are one of those poor people who still have some work to get done for University: stay focused, loved ones! You gonna make it!

Love and kisses

new year's resolutions

First of all: Happy New Year to Everyone! Phew, 2012 is already a week old and I haven't managed to write to you sooner. I hope you'll forgive me. I wasn't absent because I didn't want to blog or share my thought, but I've been enjoying the holidays with all my loved ones, went snowboarding in the Swiss alps and had to finish two papers for University.

But hey: I'm back... back for good! You can look forward to a great 2012 with lots of ideas form my part :) I'm really really really looking forward to it!

The first days of the new year are always a time for resolutions. To be honest: I'm not very fond of resolutions. Although I am generally a list-person, goal-maker, always write-it-down kind of person... resolutions are just so illusionary. You either make and know that you will not keep them... or you make them with the best intentions and end up breaking them anyway.

You have guessed just right: I did some resolutions anyway! I have lots of plans for the new year, lots of goals, lots of projects... why not call them resolutions? And why not share them with you? (so you might remind me of them, should I forget them too soon!)

Some of my goals for 2012 are:
  • Live healthier! Be fitter! (yeah, we all ate too much over the holidays - and we all want to get rid of the few extra kilos)
  • Continue blogging, have fun with it and refine the layout: I won't have to many difficulties keeping that resolution... and I would love to create a new header!
  • Cook and bake more often (and share the recipes with you)
  • Find time to be creative at least once a week: I have lots of new canvases, new colours and materials, a sewing machine I have never used, a neglected Art-Journal and many more ideas...
  • Spend a lot of time with my loved ones; boyfriend, family and friends (most important of all!)
I'm looking forward to a very interesting 2012! It will be a good one, I'm sure.

Lot of love

love oh love!

I'm still alive! That's what I want to tell you with this post... I know that I've been absent quite a while now and for my defence it must be said that I am pretty busy right now, but I apologize. You deserve to hear from me more often... especially when I have about 20 post that have to be written! Pictures from New York, some new recipes, a weekend's diy-project and many more things are waiting to be published...

I really love blogging and I will definitively try to be around more often even with my studies and work going on... I love writing about everything that moves me (haha - what a lame joke!). And I love my life just as it is right now. In fact I would even go that far as to say that I'm in love with myself - the beginning of a life-long romance. Sounds cheesy?! or crazy?

Well, I don't care! Haha! I know that I am crazy and I definitively know that you need to be happy with who you are in order to achieve great things...

Let's set out to do some great things then!

Back from the city that never sleeps

Two weeks are over and I'm finally back from New York! It was an absolutely amazing trip... My boyfriend and I enjoyed every minute of it and we came home with a bag not only full of new clothes but also full with many new experiences and even more interesting impressions.

We took more than 1300 pictures in the city that never sleeps... I'm sure you will see some of them soon here on my blog. But for now, you'll have to be satisfied with some "Hipstamatic-iPhone-pictures"-impressions:

Bye bye summery New York and hello autumnally Zürich! Tomorrow, normal life will start again...

must haves for fall

This year, summer is a bitch! I'm sorry for my language but it's true! 15°C and rain for the last three weeks and now?! Yeah... exactly: a heat wave is on its way. I can't believe this!

Sorry, I could go on like this for a while but I promised myself not to be too occupied with the weather - we can't change it anyway! But still, summer is over for me. And fall is adumbrating itself whether or not you like it. Ha!

If I would judge the seasons, fall would definitively be my favourite. Wearing tights in all colours again, drinking hot chocolate and tea, wearing hoodies, cuddling up on the sofa with a good book, wearing boots again, lighting up candles, wearing cuddly scarves and caps, spending the evenings inside watching dvds and series without having a bad conscience and baking super sweet chocolatey treats again...

As we keep on sweating, I will keep on dreaming about the changing leaves, the early morning fog and the cheek-reddening storms... these are my must haves for this years fall:

an island of complexity

Sorry for not having been around lately... my last two weeks were horribly busy. First Amsterdam and then the Wedding, I'm still totally knackered from a constant lack of sleep. I desperately need a regeneration!

I promise, the pictures from Amsterdam and the Wedding will be coming soon. I just don't know yet how soon... I'm working on it!

That's why this won't be the longest post ever... just a though of the day.: that's so me! Sometimes, I don't even get myself - I'm just way to complex (that's why trying to be more stupid didn't work at all). At least, I know :) And I never want to be understood, I just want to be loved.

obsessed with pinterest

I'll be honest with you... actually, I always am. Quite scarry, now that I think of it ;) the thing I'm gonna be honest about today is an obsession, an addiction. Yes, I'm addicted - addicted to Pinterest.

I haven't spent a day lately (meaning the last 3 days) without being on Pinterest. This website/social network/internet service is just amazing. It's actually just a huge virtual pinboard, where you can collect things you love/like and follow friends that like the same things.

Pinterest is full of inspirations! Every day, I find like hundreds of things I like, ideas for a future home, diy and crafty stuff, travel inspirations, fashion pictures, great recipes and deco ideas... I could already do like fifty posts with thingsI found on Pinterest and which I would love to have/do!

But I'd better stopp swarming and drooling. Should you ever need an idea for anything: go there! And try not to spend to much time there... because I'm sure you'll get addicted just as quickly as I was. Very dangerous!

So back to my inspiration hunt - repin, repin repin!!!
xoxo linskaya

P.S. Luckly, I'll be in Germany for the next four days and won't have a chance to go to the internet. Maybe that will help to break my pinterest-obsession.

P.P.S. Should you want to follow my obsession, you can do that here.

not so far away

In about an hour, I will be on my way to the airport - hopefully almost there. Four days out of town (even out of Switzerland). I'm pretty excited! The weather shouldn't be too bad, not very summery though. As long as it won't be raining I'm happy, because me and my boyfriend will be camping. Never done that before! I guess sleeping in a tent with my little brother in our garden when we were about ten doesn't count...

You want to know where I am going? I'll ler you guess...
But here a few hint: there is a lot of water & lots of bridges, boats and bikes. Get it? If not, take a look at the picture below!

I'll be right back for Swiss Nationalday on Monday 1st of August. See you soon!

Over and out!

Beware of Google+

okay, just a little warning first: this won't be a post that I will be proud on in years to come, but it's neccessary! I'm pissed and it takes a lot to bring me in a mood like that...

Some of you might have heard about Google+ lately, the new social media network that will replace facebook... what a crap, but that's what's been said! Maybe you are part of that now over 10million user counting network, maybe you even think it's cool. so unlike Ffacebook... that's not true! it's hellishly boring and just like facebook, just more boring. And if haven't mentioned it, it's freakin boring.

But now to the real reason why I am so mad at Google and Google+. My profile on Google+ obviously linked itself with my account on blogger - because they are both Google services. Suddenly, all the pictures from my blog and from the posts I haven't published yet appeared on my Google+ profile. Well, who wants his friends to see the pictures of posts yet to come on their Google+ account?! Exactly, NOBODY! Besides, the pictures sometimes were completely distored, tiny or just 5-6 times in my folder. That's why I chose to make short work of it: I deleted the pictures on my Google+ profile...

Wanna know what happened?! Freakin' stupid (I could really curse my head off right now) Google deleted the pictures everywhere, on my profile, on picasa, on my blog... This feels like a nightmare, but it's not - it's true! All the pictures from earlier posts are gone... some of them even gone forever because I don't have them anymore. And my case isn't the worst at all! Google destroyed years and years of blogging for some people... and there is no way to get these pictures back.

So be warned: don't use Google+, it's hellishly stupid! and if you do, beware of the treacherous features of Google!

For me, this means working on my older posts to bring the pictures back. It will take dozens of hours of course... but I have no choice :(

nobody-but-yourself

I simply love e.e.cummings' poetry! I came to know his works through my studies and I have been impressed ever since. so many things in his poems feel so familiar. he just seems to speak right from my heart. well it doesn't come from my heart in that artistic and twisted way of course - but still! Now I come to think of it, I will have to dedicate a blog post to e.e.cummings sometime. For now, enjoy his philosophy!

ps: a day of creativity is waiting for me tomorrow! you'll probably see the results soon...

What a great quote from a great lady: Audrey Hepburn.

I don't even want to destroy the magic of it by talking in lenghts about it. that's why I won't. Just read and enjoy...
